Around 40 women - half in prison and the other half in the newly established workshop in Khartoum - go through the first four-month trainee program. In addition to the training on the production of bags, they practice presenting themselves in job interviews, learn about their rights as women workers, and are supported in the development of individual professional and life prospects.
Many of the women are carrying stressful experiences on their shoulders or are challenged by difficult family circumstances. That is why a team of volunteer psychotherapists accompanies the women, even beyond the duration of the training. The aim is to give them financially independent and emotionally stable life.
